Venus' Trap 16 Jun 2012 20:44 #7046

This is another defensive deck built around Angostura. Here's the set up....

Venus' Trap

18 Creatures

4 Quicksilver
4 Angostura
4 Licnenoid
3 Sakuya
3 Spudfolk

12 items

4 Earth Shield
4 Magma Armor
4 Spiked Shield

23 Spells

1 Chariot
2 Crusher
2 Intrusion
2 Land Drain
2 Paralyzer
2 Poison Mind
1 Relief
1 Revival
2 Telegnosis
2 Temperance
3 Wind of Hope

Angostura is absolutely diesel on defense. Her 60 HP makes it easy to manufacture more of her with Licnenoid and Quicksilver. Zero Fat bodies are required. She goes well with all the defensive Items...especially Spiked Shield.

Her 80% instant death against Creatures with MHP of 30 and under is nice. But since she can not Invade, that makes her a situational attacking Creature. I have added Chariot, Intrusion, and Temperance. But they're all situational and their purpose is to take down those high lands or troublesome Creatures with TAs. Nothing more nothing less.

I did have some Sleipnirs and more Temperance in the first build of Venus' Trap. But I found myself just Temperancing everything and floating around with Angostura killing everything. I wasn't focused at the task at hand, I wasn't building any land, and doing all of this was actually shooting myself in the foot! Angostura is a defensive Creature and you'll be way better off using her as such.

Get your Angosturas in play, boost them with Licnenoid, and use Quicksliver ASAP to manufacture more. The more green Creatures in play, the more powerful Magma Armor and Spudfolk become.

As always, have fun with this deck and thanks for reading!

I think some Buckler would work very well in this for a risk free Angostura Chariot attack when trying to take out 30MHP critters. Silver Plow would be very viable in this as well. Too bad Tonfa is a weapon. That'd be mean. Heck, Senility with some Leshy in here would be nice. Since you're so focused on having defensive creatures, I'd be wary of Acid Rain. That could really cause some problems for your big lands. Mass Phantasm or Holy Asylum would be fantastic additions to this deck.

This one's added now too. That should be all of the ones you posted. If I missed any, please let me know. Thanks for sharing!
