Ikwal is our first Culdcept Revolt League Champion! Here's how the action played out:

Here's how the playoffs were seeded:

Bracket 1
1 Ikwal - 8-0, Saga-Baltias Champion, first-round bye
2 Weslord - 7-1, Revolt-Kraniss Champion, first-round bye
3 Davy - 8-1, Culdcept-Zeneth Champion
4 powerbait - 6-3, wildcard
5 Coocoo - 5-5, wildcard
6 NoteKaminami - 5-5, wildcard

Bracket 2
1 Alcks - 8-0, Revolt-Sych Champion, first-round bye
2 a robot bit me - 8-1, Culdcept-Goligan Champion, first-round bye
3 RDude - Saga-Faustina Champion
4 Astaroth - 6-4, wildcard
5 Andyman - 6-4, wildcard
6 MemeDream - 4-6, wildcard

Seeds 1 and 2 got a first-round bye. Seeds 3/6 and 4/5 went on to play seeds 2 and 1 respectively. All playoff matches were single-elimination on the higher-seeded player's home map. The championship series was played as follows: Match 1 was on the Bracket 1 champion's home map, Match 2 was on the Bracket 2 champion's home map, and Match 3 would have been on a neutral map, but wasn't needed.

Ikwal won the first match in our best-of-3 Culdcept Revolt League final last night! Here's the graph and awesome recap that Astaroth posted in our Discord chat:

Match 1 of the grand finals on Astaroth's map, Simple Circle, was a VERY tight race. Ikwal ended up taking this one, which was a long 45 round game.

Match Highlights

- In the first 10-20 rounds, I took a quick lead by having a Monk, Harlequin, Typhon, and two Shadowgeists. I was moving these around and invading rapidly. At one point, I had 7 territories to his 2. However, in the long run, I couldn't hold those territories throughout the game due to Ikwal Shattering and Poison Mind'ing all of my items.

- Mid-game, I leveled a Cait Sith to 5, as Ikwal had no immediate answers to it. Had he landed on it on that lap, it would've been over. Instead, he rolled immediately next to it and set down a Fay. This Fay would eventually hassle the Cait Sith via multiple invasion attempts and was getting boost by weapons and Ikwal's Harlequin.

- Neither of us landed on any major tolls. Oddly enough, I think throughout the ENTIRE game, only 2 or 3 small tolls were paid.

- Towards the end, I did some quick math and noticed that if I leveled a land to 5, I could win with the next lap bonus. I ended up rolling a 2 (needed a 4 or higher) and losing a pivotal chained territory on Ikwal's next turn.
- Ikwal's MVP creature was Hyde. He was paralyzing my Slepnirs so that I couldn't use their effects for invasion. He also invaded a paralyzed Monk late in the game to set up a difficult Harlequin/Aero Duchess chain.
- My MVP creature was probably Shadowgeist. Early in the game, I pestered and invaded with Shadowgeist several times. Near the end, his ST=0 effect came in handy to stop a Bahamut.
