Is that ever going to happen? I'm sure this has been discussed before, I didn't really search it out on here. It has been a long time though... I played the heck out of it on PS2 and then on the 360... I would really really like a shiny new Culdcept to play on my PS4. Such an amazing game... is it just going to fade away?

It has happened, actually. They've released new games on the Nintendo DS and 3DS, but neither game has come to the West yet. There is an English patch for the DS game, if you have a flash cart or an emulator to play it on.

We also know they're working on a new game, but have no idea what platform it'll be for, or if we'll finally get it over here across the globe.

It won't fade away, though. Culdcept is OmiyaSoft's main franchise and has a large following in Japan. It's just a matter of them deciding to localize it again. Fingers crossed!

I knew it was released on the 3DS, i just figured it was the same version... But that's very encouraging that they're working on a new one! Here's hoping for a western release! Even though my family and work life will take a beating lol

Thanks for the reply!

The DS game is an enhanced version of the Saturn and PS1 games. The 3DS game is based on the PS2 game, but is more like a Culdcept All-Stars, since it incorporates cards from every game in the series, along with many new ones. 3DS also has completely overhauled graphics and really looks great. It really needs to come to the West. I'm amazed it hasn't.

For what its worth I put in a ticket this week with Nintendo PR to see if someone could answer about what happened to the localization of Culdcept 3ds that was mentioned at the 2011 conference. The title has had a fairly steady stream of regular new content in the form of maps and cards added to it overseas so I asked them specifically if they know if its localization was cancelled or if it was just being pushed back until content stopped being added to it to make localization easier and more complete.

Fingers crossed...it takes awhile to get tickets answered like this and its not always answered with any new information. Still...if they even told me it wasn't cancelled it'd feel great after all these years. My Culdcept Neogaf OT never did get more folks on it. Took me till now to finish my degrees in college so that I could comeback to games that take hours at a time to enjoy.

Here's hoping they give me something to promote with.

Good news, Omiyasoft just posted some news on their web site. Sounds like they are working on the next game. Here is a translation of the post.

Happy new year.
Thank you again this year
I have also stood more than another two years from the launch of Culdcept (3DS) at an early ones.
Also the other day, for some reason in our, "now, but he have to over-the-counter of the game shop, Culdcept 3DS of online features, whether current can also be used" We received an inquiry that. "You can either be downloaded, online play is also possible" despite being only the title of the time since its release and, we were able to answer it proudly. This is also, thanks to everyone that has us continue all the time play.
Moreover, since we want to work hard to develop, while playing the Culdcept, I think you'll look forward to news of next work. And, although I wrote last year, what about, indeed what this year, so we thought or not can go, it is thankfully Continuing able wait.
Aim for the castle.

I hope this means the next game is coming...I also hope this means if they are done supporting Culdcept 3DS that they will finally localize it with the additional content as they stated they would before it launched. In any event I am eager for more culdcept.

Awesome! Here's hoping they don't make us wait another year for the next announcement!

That is encouraging and interesting news for sure.

For the time being, I've been playing the steam version of Talisman. Some similarities but very fun and enjoyable.

Come to think of it, Culdcept ported to PC on Steam would be awesome.

I have been pushing this for years...sadly the response is always "Whats a Culdcept?"

Its missing out on the market for its own audience. ;_;

I received an email from a nice fellow named tatsurou today:
Hi there, I'm a lurker here and recently have really gotten back into Culdcept! I live in Japan and saw the post on the Omiyasoft page. I thought I would translate into more natural, un-google translated English. Here you go

"Happy new year. We thank you for supporting us again this year.

I can't believe it's already been over two years since Culdcept 3DS was released.

The other day, our company was contacted by someone asking, "I'm at the game shop right now, but I want to know if I can still play Culdcept 3DS online." Even though it's been a while since the game was released, I was able to proudly answer, "yes, you can still download Culdcept 3DS and battle online as well." This is thanks to all of our fans who have continued playing Culdcept.

We would like to keep developing games, so please continue playing Culdcept and look forward to an announcement about our next work... is what I said last year, but I have a feeling that this year it's going to happen, so I'd be grateful if you could please wait for further information."

Anyways it looks like some news sometime this year!

Awesomeness.

It's still so very quiet :( . I'm really hoping for either an XBOX One, Android or PC version.
