Culdcept PS2/DC - Player Decks

Goblin City (N, 16/11/23)

I created this deck early on in my Culdcept days and it is definitely one of my faves. It has earned me many victories and really has only one real weakness. If the stage doesn't have a temple, it causes major problems. It's a heavy G-producing deck, and it needs an outlet for that G and symbols are the key. Well here, check it out:

Creatures
2 Amber Mosquito
2 Baldanders
4 Brass Idol
4 Goblin (well duh - it is Goblin City)
4 Skeleton

Since Goblin City focuses on G production, these creatures work wonderfully because the most expensive is the Brass Idol at 40G, so walk around and drop 'em wherever you can. You'll see why. And of course, the idol is key if you get it early so you can get to the cards you need.

Items
4 Hell Blaze
4 Necro Scarab
2 Nuclear Fusion
1 Talisman

Items are not very important in Goblin City as you can see, so I just threw a few in there just in case you needed to defend a land or possibly take one over, but it's all about G, so once again, that's not very important.

Spells
4 Barrier
4 Demonic Trade
1 Drain Magic
4 Foresight
4 Goblin's Lair
1 Lightcraft
1 Soltis
4 Spartoi

The meat and potatoes of this deck comes from the spells. First off, let me start by saying that I believe that Soltis and Lightcraft should be in every deck. If you don't have them, start getting medals now because they belong in all decks without question.

The deck is very simple. You want to litter the map with cheap-to-cast creatures. Use no prejudice - if you land on an open land, take it without question. Barrier is an amazing card - if you play your cards right, you can pretty much be invulnerable to spells the entire game. Goblin's Lair and Spartoi help you to litter the map with your minions. Use Foresight to get the cards you want when you need them.

Now, the beauty of Goblin's Lair is this: Demonic Trade. When you cast this, it will turn all of your creatures to Goblins and give you 100G for each one. Why would you want all your creatures to be Goblins? Does it matter when they were already Goblins to begin with? Beautiful. If you have four Demonic Trades in your deck and a Lightcraft (reshuffles your deck), you do the math - if you have ten Goblins on the map, and you turn them all into Goblins, that's 1000G! And, if you're holding more than one Demonic Trade... like I said before, though, if there's no temple, then you have no outlet for the G. That isn't totally bad if you manage to keep Barrier on yourself, but if at any time you aren't protected, Drain Magic than becomes your worst enemy. Other than that, I have had a high win percentage with this deck. Tiny maps also pose a problem because there isn't much room for my Goblins to run wild, and Goblins are easily stepped on, so it helps if the map is large. Have fun.
